Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Tbilisi

    Arrival in Tbilisi – Tbilisi Sightseeing tour (-)
    Meet your Driver at the airport and Transfer to the Hotel (check-in time 03:00pm).
    After some rest, start exploring the capital city Tbilisi, visiting the highest Orthodox Cathedral in the
    world Sameba (84m), Metekhi plateau, Rikhe Park and the other relevant sites like ancient Churches,
    medieval caravansary and Narikala Fortress from 4th century (drive up to the hill by cable car).
    Afterwards walking down the hill alongside the Botanical Garden to the famous Sulphur Baths district,
    close to Tbilisi mosque. Later you will visit the modern pedestrian “Bridge of Piece” and enjoy free
    time in the pedestrian street Chardin with its Cafés, Restaurants, Shisha Bars and handicraft boutiques.
    *Optional for the evening:
    - Transfer and Dinner in a traditional Restaurant with Georgian food, live Music and dancing. (Often
    loud and maybe not a good idea with a little kid). Suppl. for dinner 28 USD pp.
    - Short Transfer to the Funicular Railway Station and a 10 minutes ride, up to Mtatsminda Mountain.
    Walk in Amusement Park located on the top of the Mountain and optional dinner in Funicular
    Restaurant with wonderful views over Tbilisi. Price for Funicular 3 USD per person up&down. Price
    for dinner from 40 USD/pp.

  • Day 2
    Tsalka – Vardzia – Akhaltsikhe / Borjomi

    Tbilisi – Tsalka – Vardzia – Akhaltsikhe / Borjomi (B)
    Drive through the south region of Georgia – Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti, which is rich in
    lakes. Then follow the Mtkwari Gorge carved into the surrounding hills of the Lesser Caucasus
    Mountains. On the way one can see an array of castles and fortresses, built in different centuries for
    protection against invaders. Visit the cave town of Vardzia (12th century), which was built during the
    reign of Queen Tamar. Continue to drive along the scenic Kura Valley with its beautiful Landscapes,
    medieval watchtowers and fortresses to the town of Akhaltsikhe. Visit Fortress Rabati in Akhaltsikhe.
    It is said that the name Rabati comes from the Arabic meaning for “fortified place”. Over the centuries,
    this fortress was under control of Georgians, Ottomans and Russians. The newly renovated site with its
    towers, church and mosque gives good impressions of this contested history. Check in at the Hotel in
    Akhaltsikhe or Borjomi. Overnight.

  • Day 3
    Uplistsikhe – Stepantsminda

    Akhaltsikhe / Borjomi – Uplistsikhe – Stepantsminda (B)
    After Breakfast, have a short walk in Borjomi City Park. Later, drive to the ancient cave town of
    Uplistsikhe close to the City of Gori (Birthplace of Dictator Stalin). This cave town within wonderful
    landscape is one of the most relevant places in the long Georgian history and the old Silk Road was
    passing by here as well. After that drive to the Higher Caucasus Mountains and spend the night in a
    Hotel with views to one of the most impressive Mountains of the Caucasus, the snow-covered Kazbek,
    known from ancient Greek Myths. On the way visit Ananuri fortress, overlooking Jinvali water
    reservoir.

  • Day 4
    Stepantsminda – Ananuri – Mtskheta – Tbilisi

    Stepantsminda – Ananuri – Mtskheta – Tbilisi (B)
    After Breakfast with view towards the Peak of Mt. Kazbek (5047m) you will drive with 4WD Jeeps up
    to a plateau on 2200m to the feet of Mt. Kazbek. From here you will have wonderful views and can visit
    Gergeti Trinity Monastery. Drive back to Tbilisi. On your way, you will have a stop in the old capital of
    Georgia, Mtskheta. Visit Jvari Monastery with breathtaking view over the confluence of two rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi, and visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Here you can relax in one of the cafés
    nearby on your own. Transfer to Tbilisi. Check in for 1 night and free time.

  • Day 5
    Tbilisi

    Tbilisi – Departure (B)
    After check out, Transfer to the most relevant Shopping-Centre Area of Tbilisi, located between the
    city and the Airport. Time there depending on your flight times. After shopping transfer to the Airport
    and Departure.
