  • Day 1

    Bishkek-Song Kol

Our guide will meet you at the airport or pick you up from the hotel. You will start you tour directly from it.
Your first stop will be the Burana Tower - the ancient silk road minaret, which is a heritage of UNESCO and Kyrgyzstan nowadays. You will have the chance to climb the 25 meters Tower, to see the surrounding area from the Top. Silk Road Caravans used to stop here to rest as the center of the Balasagun city, which was established by the Karakhanids at the end of the 9th century.
The whole complex consist of the mausoleums, castle foundation and grave markers (balbals, located around and were created by the ancient Turkic tribes). The small museum as part of the complex contains historical information and artifacts found at the site and in the surrounding region. Visiting this historical site will help you to move into the atmosphere of the 12th century and see firsthand the most ancient artifacts.
Lunch you will have in the cafe on the road.
After you will continue the trip through the Boom Gorge, which is a kind of a thread that connects three regions - Chui, Issyk-Kul and Naryn. On the way you can enjoy watching beautiful views of high mountains - somewhere steep and rocky, as well as the rapid flow of the Chu River.
Lunch in the cafe on the road. You will stop also in Kochkor village to visit openbazaar there, as we recommend you to buy whatever you will need during few days: snacks, drinks and etc.
You will also have a few photo-stops: at Reservoir Orto-Tokoy and Mountain springs for water testing. If you are lucky on the way you will meet the wild cows - yaks.
The destination of the first day will be the mountain lake Song-Kol. The road to the final destination will take about 6-7 hours with all stops from the start point. The lake lies on the Tian Shan mountains plain surrounded by meadows (jailoo). It is the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan after Issyk-Kul lake. Since the ancient times till nowadays the area around the lake services for the local people as summer pasture (jailoo), where shepherds spend time during the summer. During the winter time the lake is difficult to access and there is almost nobody in the area. Pristine water, fresh air, nomadic lifestyle experience, amazing views, disconnection from the civilisation, opportunity to communicate with local people and horse riding is just amazing experiences worth of taking the tour to Song-Kul. You will be also able to try the life-giving drink from mare's milk "Kymyz" made by the local people. Because of the fantastically untouched nature, the purest air, aromatic and fragrant herbs, crystal clear glacial waters, Kymyz turns out to be the best, with a whole bouquet of aromas. Sometimes local people just come here for Kymyz treatment, as it is a good way of cleansing. The temperature in the nights can go minus even during the summer, so we recommend you to have work clothes even though you will be heated.

You will arrive there in the evening. You will stay in the Yurt-Camp for overnight to try the nomadic style and Kyrgyz culture. Before Dinner, you will have some time to enjoy walking towards or along the shore of the lake, as well as watching a sunset.
